BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -In July, 13 News shared the story of a young Edmonson County artist who was selling his artwork to give back to his community. After months of hard work, Parin Patel donated over $2,500 back to Edmonson.
“Thank you for whoever bought my paintings and I like to help my community,” said Parin Patel, artist
“We gave $1,500 to his school and recently $1,100 to the sheriff’s department. Our goal is just to give back to the community because we know our community needs more help and in the future, we would like to help more and more,” said Manish Patel, Parin’s father.
Parin’s father buys all of his art supplies but 100% of the sales go towards the community donations. His father says this just allows his son to be creative.
“My son really likes this work. So we say he will be our future artist and I like to make him busy and have him do something like play sports and whatever he wants to do and grow up you know,” added Manish.
Parin’s mother is extremely proud of her son as she stood by his side throughout his entire artistic journey and is extremely proud of how far he has come.
“Last year he used to paint with q-tips and smaller things and this year he tried to work with the really good brushes and everything. So he is doing really good. I am proud of him,” said Nisha Patel, mother.
Edmonson County Sheriff Shane Doyle recently received a $1,100 donation from the family which will go towards their K-9 funds to purchase a dog in the future.
“He is an extremely talented artist and he has used his talents to benefit the community. Most people use their talents to benefit themselves and that is not what he is doing. He does not care anything about attention or fame or money. I mean the kid could have had some money in the bank if he had just sold these for himself because who wouldn’t want to buy these kinds of paintings but he has used all of that to help us and everybody else in the community because when we get that K-9 it is going to benefit us all.”
In 2021 Parin hopes to continue to sell his artwork and give back to more local first responders.
If you are interested in purchasing his artwork you can go to visit the Chalybeate Food Mart at 1990 Chalybeate Rd. in Smith’s Grove Ky, 42171.
