A Norwich native who loved jazz music and opening her studio to visitors during the yearly Philadelphia Open Studios Tour died April 20 with COVID-19, her obituary said.

Marilyn Joyce “Lynn” Liberman, 92, enjoyed a zest for life or, as her obituary put it, “a bountiful joie de vivre,” and won multiple awards as an artist.

Her family wrote in her obituary that she “loved a good party, a great restaurant, the opera and theater, good novels and biographies, the Philadelphia Art Museum, and her favorite music: Stan Getz, Ella Fitzgerald, and all the great jazz sax players.”

A huge Philadelphia Eagles fan, she was thrilled to see the Eagles win the Super Bowl in 2018 against the New England Patriots. It just so happened that she was living in Boston — the heart of Patriots territory — at the time of the victory.

Her style wasn’t limited to artwork.

“She was always beautifully dressed, and even in her 80s young women in Philadelphia would stop her on the street to rave about her outfits,” her family wrote in her obituary.
