REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.–A group in Rehoboth Beach is getting their hands dirty to help support the careers of local artists.

Before the coronavirus pandemic, the nonprofit, Developing Artist Collaboration, had do it yourself art projects for the community to do at their business location.

But since closing, they came up with the Dirty Hands DIY program that allows people to buy craft kits to do at home.

We are told the proceeds go back into the creative professional development of staff, like getting their work online, which is important during these hard times.

“We really believe that artists can empower themselves and we are here to give them the tools so that they can not only have an online presence, but a modern sleek, very innovative presence as well,” Leah Beach, Founder and Executive Director at Developing Artist Collaboration, said.

Beach said that helping artists to get their work online is important right now since galleries are closed and vendor events aren’t happening.

We are told that since May 15 they have brought in about $25,000 dollars collectively through the program.
