A local artist wants paint essential workers in the healthcare field as the heroes they are.
Kim Johnson told FOX 17 that some of her work is already on display at one of Mercy Health's facilities, but she wants to spread her message of support across the entire state.
Johnson said that she has been painting for West Michigan for quite a while and has submitted her work to Art Prize eight times.
Recently, she crafted a painting depicting several medical workers on the job, with the words "thank you," stamped on top. Now she wants to get her painting hung in every health care facility in Michigan.
So far she has reached out to Mercy Health but hasn't heard back, which she assumed is due to them being busy addressing the COVID-19 pandemic. While she knows there's not a lot she can do to properly thank every essential worker, she believes this might be the next best thing.
"I think if they see that on a daily basis I think it just, you know... I think for them to see that on a daily basis would be kind of cool," Johnson told FOX 17.
She has not had her painting reproduced just yet, since the place where she gets her prints made is currently closed. Once they open back up she'll be sending out prints to anyone that's interested.
