Portia de Rossi is “standing by” her wife, Ellen DeGeneres, amid reports of the talk show host’s alleged bad behavior behind the scenes.
“To all our fans….we see you. Thank you for your support,” de Rossi, 47, captioned a quote that said “I Stand By Ellen” in the host’s signature white and baby blue show colors.
The “Arrested Development” star then added the hashtags #stopbotattacks, which appeared to imply that the allegations came from “bots” and were unfounded.
De Rossi’s rep did not immediately return a request for comment.
De Rossi and DeGeneres, 62, have been married since 2008.
Since May, insiders have been speaking out on DeGeneres’ alleged rude behavior to staff and others.
A tweet by comedian Kevin Porter branding her “notoriously one of the meanest people alive” received more than 2,000 responses.
TV writer Ben Simeon wrote in the thread, “A new staff member was told, ‘Every day she picks someone different to really hate. It’s not your fault, just suck it up for the day and she’ll be mean to someone else the next day.’ They didn’t believe it, but it ended up being entirely true.”
In July, WarnerMedia launched an investigation into “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” through a third-party firm to see if there was any truth to the accusations of a toxic workplace culture.
DeGeneres addressed the allegations in a memo to her staff later that month, saying in part, “As we’ve grown exponentially, I’ve not been able to stay on top of everything and relied on others to do their jobs as they knew I’d want them done. Clearly some didn’t. That will now change and I’m committed to ensuring this does not happen again.”
She added, “Obviously, something changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case. And for that, I am sorry. Anyone who knows me knows it’s the opposite of what I believe and what I hoped for our show.”
Rumors began to circulate that the host, who tells her audience to “be kind to one another,” was considering leaving her show after 17 years on the air.
However, her executive producers have said she has no intention of quitting.
Aside from de Rossi, other celebrities in Hollywood have also picked sides in the scandal.
“Everybody Loves Raymond” star Brad Garrett tweeted, “Know more than one who were treated horribly by her. Common knowledge.”
Talent manager Scooter Braun chimed in, “@TheEllenShow is a kind, thoughtful, courageous human being who stands for what is right and highlights on her show the best of us. She has helped change the views for equality… Needed to say this as I know first hand how she helps so many when we are watching and when we are not.”
