The largest public arts festival, Chalk the Block, is gearing to launch virtually on Oct. 10, organizers said.
And they are ready to take online applications from artists and vendors.
“Although we are not able to host the festival in person, we want to continue bringing the excitement of public art to the community of El Paso," said Ben Fyffe, cultural affairs and recreation director.
Faithful goers of the artistic event can still plan on enjoying a chalk art competition, live music and a visual artist market via Facebook or the event website. Chalk artists will be required to create their designs on their own property.
The El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department is accepting the online applications here. There are categories for advanced artists, intermediate artists and student artists enrolled in high school.
The deadline to apply is Monday, Sept. 14. No late or incomplete applications will be accepted. No paper applications will be accepted.
