NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. (WPTA21) - The quaint downtown of North Manchester is getting a big splash of color in a very public way.
The artist installing Wabash County's Mural Fest piece goes by RemixOne, and he's been painting murals for nearly two decades.
On 2,000 square feet of brick wall, the outside of a shoe shop on E. Main Street, Remix is painting a bald eagle, for the 90 bald eagles known to call Wabash County "home."
Remix is from Mexico City, one of the biggest cities in the world, to paint a mural here, in a community of about 6,000 people.
Remix and his art have been well-received by North Manchester, and the feeling is mutual.
He's found the town "quiet," and he likes that.
But there's one thing he has to do before he leaves.
"I've always lived in places that aren't real little, so it is kind of a dream coming true. So to go live on the farm... like one or two days, getting up super early and milking the cows, I don't know, I just want to do it for the fun."
Brooke Vanderpool, with Manchester Alive, an organization that promotes business and life in the community, has been working with Remix.
She tells ABC21 she plans to get Remix to a farm before he leaves North Manchester.
