Nashville's Barry Scott, a voice-over artist for TNA Wrestling and the NBA, has died at age 65.
His death was announced by Impact Wrestling via social media Thursday and confirmed by loved ones.
"We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Barry Scott," Impact Wrestling posted on Twitter. "For years Barry was the iconic voice of TNA Wrestling, lending us gravitas and credibility. He will be dearly missed."
Scott's cause of death was not immediately known.

An accomplished actor, writer, producer, director and voice-over artist, Scott was also founder and producing artistic director of the American Negro Playwright Theatre at Tennessee State University in Nashville.
Scott also participated in Nashville's annual Let Freedom Sing July 4th event, which featured his patriotic recitations.
"There is no theater scene in Nashville without Barry Scott," said Jeff Obafemi Carr, a local interfaith leader, innovation strategist, community advocate and life-long friend of Scott.
"Barry was a positive, uplifting and analytical artist," said Carr, 53. "He was a deep thinker, a reader and he was supportive of pushing the envelope. He had really big dreams and always pushed to make people step up to their inner talent level."
Scott's father, Emmitt Scott, served as a deacon in Carr's congregation at Kane Avenue Baptist Church on 12th Avenue South. His mother, the late Dorothy Scott, served as a Sunday school teacher there.
According to a biography of Scott on the website of his management company, Kirkland Productions, his acting credits include television’s "I’ll Fly Away" and "In the Heat of the Night." He was also a member of the Screen Actors Guild, Actor’s Equity Association, American Film Radio and Television Association and served on the board of the Tennessee Arts Commission.
Scott’s voice can be heard on commercials and PSAs around the country. He has done voice work for ESPN, CBS, ABC, NBC, Disney, SPIKE TV – TNA Wrestling, The Discovery Channel, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Burger King, McDonalds, The American Heart Association and more.

"Nashville Repertory Theatre is heartbroken by the news of Barry Scott’s passing," the company tweeted Friday. "Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all of the artists that he impacted during his brilliant career."
According to NRP, Barry performed in a number of shows with the Rep, including "Macbeth," "Othello," "Taming of the Shrew," "Blood Knot," "Man of La Mancha," "Camelot," "Jesus Christ Superstar," "Pirates of Penzance," "Evita," "Ain’t Misbehavin’," "Big River" and "The Piano Lesson."
"We will remember Barry as an extraordinary artist, teacher, & leader," NRP tweeted. "He was thoughtful, compassionate, & an inspiration to all of us. He was an immense talent & a giant of Nashville theatre. His voice is irreplaceable, and we join the Nashville community in mourning this loss."
Scott is preceded in death by his parents and a brother and survived by his wifeand three adult children and two sisters.
Funeral and service information were pending Friday.
