Juried Show, “Art Is,” and has been accepted into the online Regional Exhibit of the Baltimore Watercolor Society.

RICHMOND — Local artist Gina Judy of Richmond, a signature member of the Ohio Watercolor Society, has been accepted into Watercolor Ohio 2021 for her work “Ballet Series VII: All Dressed.”

The work also recently took first-place honors at the Associated Artists of Butler County (Pa.) Juried Show, “Art Is,” and has been accepted into the online Regional Exhibit of the Baltimore Watercolor Society.

The longtime Steubenville Art Association member also is exhibiting in the Lincoln Gallery National Fine Art Show, Loveland, Colo., and the Pikes Peak International Juried Watercolor Exhibit.

Watercolor Ohio 2021, the 44th-annual juried Ohio Watercolor Society Exhibition, will be on display at the Gallery at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, Ohio. The exhibition opens on July 17 and runs through Sept. 3. An opening reception begins at 1 p.m. on July 17 with awards being presented at 3:30 p.m.

Sponsored by the Ohio Watercolor Society, a nonprofit fine arts organization, the highly competitive juried show annually attracts entries from throughout Ohio and areas along its boundaries. Chosen for the exhibition were 80 paintings from 270 entries submitted by 171 artists.

A nationally recognized juror from outside Ohio juries the show. This year’s juror of selection and awards was Keiko Tanabe of Carlsbad, Calif. Tanabe is an award-winning watercolor artist and signature member of the National Watercolor Society, American Watercolor Society, American Impressionist Society and Laguna Plein Air Painters Association.

Keiko was born in Kyoto, Japan, Keiko lives in San Diego and conducts workshops and demonstrations there and at the national and international levels.

An exhibition of 32 works from this show, including all of the award winners, will tour the state of Ohio through May 2022, following the conclusion of the full exhibition at the Gallery at Lakeland.

More than 350 Ohio artists are signature or associate members of the Ohio Watercolor Society, which was established in 1978 to further the stature of aqueous painting as a major art medium and to assist in the education of Ohio artists and the general public.
