LOS ANGELES – Online furnishings resource Lulu & Georgia has launched a new rug and pillow collection in an exclusive partnership with artist and textile designer Élan Byrd.
“I wanted to design a collection of rugs and pillows that found the balance between bold and subtle and that is organic yet modern,” said Byrd. “This collection is for anyone looking to make a statement through unique and neutral patterns.”
Byrd said that the collection is earthy and tonal, with a focus on rich texture and slow, intentional construction inspired by natural fiber artwork.
Drawing inspiration from the cultural commonalities of ancient civilizations through their use of materials, architecture, woven textiles and symbols, Byrd said she creates modern pieces that embody those similarities, either in the concept for the collection or in the materials she uses.
Weaving is a slow and intentional meditative process, according to Byrd, which allows her to be sustainable in her practice and crate small quantities of items made from natural fibers and other resources from the earth.
The new collection consists of rugs and pillows ranging from $98 to $3,998, available in various sizes.
