Susan Greeley has been named Signature Artist for the 2022 Coral Springs Festival of the Arts, the event’s organizers said.
Greeley’s winning entry, “Bathed in Sunlight,” portrays pink pastel water lilies in full bloom as they float on a sun-drenched pond. The painting will be featured on advertisements and festival posters sold at the event.
The local artist has taught K-12 Visual Art at North Broward Preparatory School in Coconut Creek since 1981.
For her winning entry, Greeley earned a $500 stipend and a complimentary booth at the festival, where she will display and sell her artwork.
“For me, the natural beauty and color in the landscape is the primary focus of my work,” Greeley said.
Greeley’s win marks the third time she has been named a featured Signature Artist for the festival in recent years. She won in 2018 with “Everything Under the Sun” and again in 2019 with “Nature Calls.”
Greeley grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and received her bachelor’s degree in art education from Ohio State University, as well as a master’s degree in art education from Florida Atlantic University.

“During this time, she was able to develop her own style by experimenting with different media and themes,” festival organizers said in a written announcement. “She enjoys working with watercolors, acrylics, oils, and mixed media and has a passion for capturing the essence of the busy city and the serenity of nature she encounters.”
According to the organizers, the festival’s Annual Signature Artist Competition attracts submissions from sculptors and two-dimensional artists across Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
For the 2022 event, 14 artists submitted over 30 pieces of art. The annual winner is chosen by a blind committee based on “original voice, unique style, mastery of the medium, technique, and professionalism,” the announcement said.
