Set in a custom-designed 360-degree theater, Awakening features dramatic choreography, technology, magic, and fantastic creatures in an immersive experience narrated by Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins. Along with the show’s recent debut, Wynn Las Vegas is investing in local artists to take entertainment and art to the community and is fostering emerging creative talent in the process.

“As Awakening came together, we realized the power of what we were working on and were inspired to extend the artistry beyond the walls of the theater,” Craig Billings, CEO of Wynn Resorts, said in a statement. “We commissioned these beautiful pieces of art with no restraints on this talented group of artists because that is what Wynn does best – we let amazing talent create beauty.”

In San Francisco, artist Allison Torneros, known as “Hueman,” recreated the theme of the show with a large-scale wallscape set in the SOMA neighborhood. The mural design, which visually mimics the Awakening stage, will be on display until Jan. 23. The Oakland-based multidisciplinary artist specializes in a gauzy artistic style she refers to as “etherealism.”

Multimedia powerhouse Kentaro Yoshumura’s work, titled “Chiaroscuro,” is featured on a building in Los Angeles along the Santa Monica Freeway, also on display until Jan. 23. Yoshimura has also completed two downtown Los Angeles murals commemorating the first Asian-American astronaut in space, and he has been appointed as a cultural ambassador for the upcoming Los Angeles Olympics.

Graffiti artist Clyde is showcasing his design, titled “IO,” in downtown Phoenix near Jefferson Street until Dec. 26. Born and based in Phoenix, Clyde is inspired by architectural details, the surrounding environment, and the opportunity to create landmarks for the local community.
