On Sunday, February 26, the four-decades-running tradition of the Austin Music Awards returned to celebrate the best and brightest locally sourced music of the past year.
Presented by The Austin Chronicle and sponsored by our pals at Rambler, Dulce Vida Tequila, Hill Country Bock, Cap Metro, Leanderthal Distilling, Sendero Health Plans, Feels So Good, and Red River Cultural District, the storied show’s first time on the Mohawk stage fundraised for essential artist-serving nonprofit the SIMS Foundation. Performances by Jackie Venson, Como Las Movies, Kelly Willis, Brennen Leigh, Melissa Carper, Blakchyl, Die Spitz, and more kept the volume up between award speeches. The inimitable Brigitte Bandit led the proceedings as we rolled out the highest vote-grabbers in categories across artists, albums, and instrumentalists.
