Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez might have put their wedding plans on hold but it looks like they're storming full speed ahead with expanding their family.
Last week, the couple announced that they had become the 'grandparents' of a new goldendoodle puppy, now owned by Lopez’s son, Maximillian ‘Max’ David.
‘We surprised Max yesterday with a new puppy, a Goldendoodle,’ Rodriguez captioned a photograph of himself, Lopez, her two children, Max and Emme Maribel Muñiz, and their new pup.
‘It’s between these two names: Tyson or Yankee Doodle???’
The former athlete added that the family’s dog, Lady, now has a brother and joked ‘#ImAGranddad,’
‘Welcome to the fam, @tbdpupofficial!’ Lopez wrote in the caption of her Instagram post, tagging the dog’s new Instagram account.
‘We got Max this adorable lil golden doodle and we haven’t named him yet!’
In less than a week, the puppy has garnered close to 14,000 followers on Instagram and has officially put our following count to shame.
The couple, who were believed to have been getting married this summer, before the coronavirus pandemic struck, have been social distancing with their children during the health crisis.
In April, Rodriguez opened up about his experience of living in lockdown with his family, revealing that he felt ‘incredibly grateful’ to get to spend time with his fiancé, her children from her marriage to ex-husband Marc Anthony and his eldest daughter, Natasha.
Rodriguez shares daughters Ella and Natasha with his ex-wife, Cynthia Scurtis.
‘Each day I am trying to focus on doing one positive thing for someone else,’ he wrote on Instagram.
‘This is a time where we all need to help each other, and by doing so we will help ourselves remember that this situation may be temporary, but our actions are permanent. Let’s make the most of this time and stay together as a community, even while we are apart with our families.’
Last month, Lopez gave her fans an update on the latest news regarding her wedding to Rodriguez.
‘Nobody knows,’ she said of their plans. ‘There’s no planning right now. You just have to kind of wait and see how this all plays out. You know, it’s disappointing on one level.
‘After the Super Bowl and after World of Dance, after we finished filming it, I planned to take time off which is what we’re doing right now," Lopez added. "But at the same time, we had a lot of plans for this summer and this year but everything is kind of on hold right now.’
The couple got engaged in March 2019 two years after they began dating.
