Nearly 250 collaboratively-made drawings by 25 artists will go on sale via the Big Medium Artist Registry. All proceeds will be donated, with 90% to the ACLU and 10% to the Big Medium Artist Relief Fund. The artworks will be available for sale through March 25.

Okay Mountain’s 7×7 drawing project originated in 2006 when the artists collective had a gallery on East Cesar Chavez Street. Initially the project started as a way to while away afternoons at a shade covered picnic table behind the gallery during sweltering Texas summers. Since then, it has evolved into a complex yet remarkably intuitive exploration on collaboration, camaraderie, and drawing.

Related but distinct from other drawing game such as Exquisite Corpse, the Okay Mountain project use a seven-inch-square drawing space and each drawing is started by one person and finished by another. Artists outside the collective can participate, and to date hundreds of drawings have been created.

This current round of drawings started during the early phases of the COVID-19 pandemic and continued throughout 2020.

Big Medium’s Artist Relief Fund in June 2020 in response to the pandemic. To date it has raised more that $50,000 that has helped over 70 artists.
