A virtual event Thursday will provide an in-depth look at the colorful new mural in downtown San Jose, “Do You Know the Way to San Jose’s Guadalupe River Trail?” by Kristina Micotti.

The 6 p.m. online “unveiling” will include a short film on the process of creating the 2,550 square-foot mural on the Guadalupe River Park trail at the Santa Clara Street bridge — the second piece in an effort to build an “art walk” through the downtown river park. It will be moderated by Pow!Wow! San Jose Director Juan Carlos Araujo and Chopsticks Alley founder Trami Cron, who’ll also be talking about Southeast Asian artists in the arts and leading a panel featuring female artists from both the PWSJ team and the Guadalupe River Park Conservancy.

Following the Zoom panel, attendees can stick around for the monthly Art Boutiki Drink and Draw, a free, all-ages evening of vinyl music and drawing that starts at 7 p.m. You can get the link to attend at artboutiki.com/drink-and-draw.

GROUP FUNDRAISING EFFORT: Three nonprofits in Santa Clara are pooling their resources to raise funds for their respective causes with a single auction and raffle that kicks off this week.

The three groups banding together are the Santa Clara Women’s League, the Historic Preservation Society of Santa Clara and the Employer-School Council, and each has its own goals for the fundraiser. The Santa Clara Women’s League was founded in 1983 and uses all its proceeds to support the Santa Clara Senior Center’s Health & Wellness Program at the Santa Clara Senior Center. The Historic Preservation Society of Santa Clara focuses much of its attention on the Harris Lass House Museum and Historic Preserve on Market Street, an 1865 structure that’s the last farm site in the Mission City, which opened to the public in 1991. And the Employer-School Council was formed in 1973 and has provided scholarships to students at Santa Clara’s New Valley High School, a continuation school, and Wilson High School, an alternative education school.

The auction starts Friday and runs through March 25, and items can be picked up March 27 at the Santa Clara Women’s Club Adobe. If you want to check out the offerings, go to charityauction.bid/scwomensleague.

LUNAFEST RETURNS: Lunafest, the first traveling film festival by and about women, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year — and the San Jose Woman’s Club is marking 10 years as a host of the event. Of course, the film festival isn’t “traveling” this year but is taking place virtually on March 26.

Going online means attendees won’t be able to enjoy the dinner, drinks and other festivities at the Woman’s Club, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be a sense of community surrounding the series of award-winning short films. Mosaic America, formerly Sangram Arts, will host a live chat session following the movies (which you can see a list of at www.lunafest.org/filmmakers.)

Tickets for the 7 p.m. festival are $12.50 for San Jose Woman’s Club members and $25 for everyone else. Proceeds benefit the club’s efforts to upgrade its heating and air conditioning system, as well as Mosaic America, Breast Cancer Prevention Partners and Chicken and Egg Pictures, which champions female storytellers. You can purchase tickets at lunafest-sj.eventbrite.com.
