From SXSW and NFT LA, to Consensus and NFT.NYC, Tulum’s own multidisciplinary artist Alejandro Glatt has made it his mission to connect humanity with nature and Web3 technology through the power of fruit.
As the founder of Feel the Fruit Movement, Glatt promotes an experiential healing experience that combines meditation with fruit to connect to the five senses, helping others to feel grounded and inspired.
With a visual arts and permaculture background specializing in fruits, he has demonstrated his understanding of the fruit growing process and how to manifest an abundance cycle. In sharing the essence of fruit, represented through an artistic and sensual lens, Glatt has been able to penetrate the world of Web3 and NFTs.
His social NFT project, Crypto Papayas, which launched last year at SXSW, has been seen at event after event, most recently at Consensus 2022. Through altars, ceremonies, and big scale art installations, Glatt’s message to the world is to connect, play, and interact with our nature’s resources that we often overlook.
Glatt’s bohemian archetype has also enabled him to carve out a world of fruit that serves as a euphemism for female sexual anatomy, which is symbolically tied to human sexuality and the life therein created.
He also plays an active role with Polygon Studios as its resident artist and NFT creator, traveling across the world to as many conferences as he can, donating his energy and talent to help empower women and bring out human spirituality and wonder in conference attendees.
Ahead of NFT.NYC, Be[In]Crypto sat down with Glatt, as well as at NFT LA to learn more about the interconnectivity of nature and technology, and how he’s continued to promote anti-establishment political and social viewpoints, free love, and frugality.
“I’m taking every opportunity and showing up with my volume, energy, and spreading the word about what it means to be free,” Glatt told Be[In]Crypto.
“Art is more than just a screen. These are mediums to present to interact and to attract people through curiosity and attention,” he continued.
For those who attended NFT LA, Glatt’s exhibit was created out of actual, edible fruit, which included delicious pineapples.
“The purpose was to create art out of the screen itself, so we built the frame out of real fruit where people could interact with it.”
Fruit is the embodiment of Glatt’s bohemianism
When we asked the abstract artist why he chose to center his NFT project and art around fruit, he pointed to nature and the world around us, for which we often take for granted.
“There is nothing more representative of nature than fruit,” he explained. “From a mere seed, comes a little plant, which eventually grows into a tree – and that very tree gives us fruit. As humans, we are privileged to take that fresh, beautiful fruit and do anything we want with it. For me, it’s the biggest gift that modern art has afforded us. I’m taking fruit as a concept and showing people how we can connect humanity with nature and Web3 technology.”
Glatt, who hails from the jungles of Tulum, says he would rather be here at NFT.NYC and at all these conferences, where he intends to continue bringing awareness and serving as an agent of change to help expand the Web3 movement through human sexuality and spirituality.
“It’s important to be aware of where we live right now, because sometimes living in the cities, we don’t always see or appreciate nature that surrounds us. It is my mission to help bring this technology and ancient, futuristic nature to the cities.”
Currently, Glatt has actively launched his NFT collection on the Tezos, Ripple, and Solana blockchains. His work has been seen in a variety of hotels, festivals, and retreats in Miami, Tulum, Mykonos, Melbourne, Los Angeles, Santa Teresa, Mexico City, Xilitla, and Tel Aviv.
So, if you’re at NFT.NYC this week, look for the papayas! You can see the voluminous collections of his work by visiting his website.
