1/1 Artist Spotlight: The Vividly Colorful Portraiture of Tiffatronn - Yahoo Entertainment

tapanggane.blogspot.com

ONE37pm's 1/1 Artist Spotlight is a series that focuses on giving love to 1 of 1 NFT Artists. Whether they're from the traditional art world or just got started in art through web3, we want to highlight and help you get to know those who are up and coming.

A 1/1 NFT is a unique, one-of-a-kind digital collectible where no other exists other than the piece itself.  Each 1/1 collection has a limited amount of editions available, with the number dictated by the artist. We hope to introduce you to talented and incredible people in the NFT space and the reasons they love doing what they do.

Portraits are such a beautiful and arduous undertaking, requesting that an artist manage to capture the subject itself while simultaneously invoking an element of the figurative. @tiffatronn manages to toe this line masterfully, producing works that are both personal and eccentric; the kaleidoscopic portrains, which often include vastly disparate colorful imagery, always maintain a focus on an ever-present subject. We caught up with the digital artist ("digital paint with an analog heart") to hear a bit about her work and trajectory so far.

ONE37pm: How has your artist journey changed since joining NFTs? How did you start?

Tiffatronn: I've always been an artist, I've always made art in some form, but my professional background is in graphic design and art direction. For the years leading up to discovering NFTs, I was freelancing as a designer and art director, working with both smaller creative businesses independently, contracting with an agency to work on accounts for larger global brands. I was also running my own product-based business. It was a really interesting mix; I learned a lot in those roles, but I've always wanted to be a full-time artist. NFTs have given me the opportunity to take on less client work and pursue my art full-time. It's been an amazing 1.5 years in the NFT space so far, I feel like I've found my home. I can't wait to see what the future brings (I'm also excited to see how I can bring more of my past skill set into the space).

ONE37pm: Do you prefer physical or digital?

Tiffatronn: I love playing with traditional mediums, and may do more of that in future, but for now my work is 100% digitally created, all hand-drawn with an apple pencil or wacom pen. That said, I have some ideas for bringing physical objects into what I'm doing this year, which I'm really excited about.

ONE37pm: How would you describe your art style?

Tiffatronn: Always hard describing your own work, but I'd say expressive, figurative, emotive. I recently came up with the line 'digital paint with an analog heart' - I feel this sums up my style pretty well. I often get asked if my work is digital or traditional as the textures and expressive abstract mark-making can sometimes feel like it was created with 'real' paint.

ONE37pm: Who or what are some of your biggest inspirations?

Tiffatronn: I'm inspired by people who are doing great things + are freely sharing information because they want to see others succeed too. That's the kind of big-picture energy I admire and relate to. In terms of art, I try to look outside the usual bubble for inspiration. I have a lot of art books, both historical and contemporary, but I also draw a lot on my own personal experiences, thoughts and emotions.

ONE37pm: What is your favorite piece?

Tiffatronn: My personal favorite piece of my own work changes all the time, but right now probably 'A Culmination Of Epiphanies', owned by Tyler Hobbs. There's a great story behind Tyler collecting it (we connected when he bid on a different piece) plus I just really feel like that piece perfectly captures the essence of my work + what I'm trying to say.

ONE37pm: What do you hope to accomplish in the next year?

Tiffatronn: I have some big plans for 2023, including a new collection and releasing some physical objects/merch. I also have some collaborations lined up that I'm really excited about!

ONE37pm: When do you feel most inspired to create?

Tiffatronn: After I've rested. The NFT space is fast moving, it moves quicker than most artists can keep up with, so it's important to take regular breaks away from social media + the constant churn to just be + think + plan. I always feel most productive and inspired when I've spent some time 'off the tools' thinking + daydreaming for a while.

ONE37pm: Who are 3 artists you have your eyes on at the moment?

Tiffatronn: There are so many talented artists doing incredible things right now. A few who have recently caught my eye - Mariah (@0xVestica), Ryan Anderson (@ItsRyanAnderson) + goldcat (@OriginalGoldCat). All have really unique styles, and are bringing something very special.

ONE37pm: What advice would you give to an artist starting in the space right now?

Tiffatronn: Everyone has different goals, figure out what success personally means to you + go after that—it may not be the same as everyone else! Take your time—it's hard in such a fast-moving environment, but if you can, spend time observing, learning, collecting, understanding the eco-system before jumping in. If your goal is a sustainable long term art career, make moves that support that. Treat others the way you'd like to be treated, respect your collectors + peers, build real relationships with people + the rest will fall into place. Also, avoid shilling in DMs (unless invited to). It rarely works + can cost you an organic connection with someone later.

ONE37pm: Would you rather be relatable or aspirational to your audience?

Tiffatronn: I think maybe I'm a bit of both - I try to keep it real + be vulnerable online, I share a lot of my feelings + inner thoughts as my work references them so much, but I am also aware that I have a lot of artists following me too, so I try to be the person I wish I had when I started.
