He liked it, so he put a tattoo on it.
Canadian couple Olivia, 29, and Kyle Johnson, 31, fell crazy in love when Kyle, a tattoo artist, permanently inked his future bride with a tribute to her late grandfather in 2019.
Fast forward to July 2022 and the couple inked each other’s ring fingers on their wedding day.
Reminiscing about their first meeting with Southwest News Service, Olivia said Kyle completed her tattoo for free — but didn’t make a move.
“He’s very shy. He didn’t charge me for the tattoo but didn’t say anything else. So, I then sent him a message to ask him out,” she recalled.
“We moved quickly from there.”
The pair hit it off on their first date and moved in together four months later.
One year later, Kyle proposed on Isla Mujeres, Mexico.
It was only right that the couple incorporated tattoos into their wedding ceremony, so they decided to ink each other’s initials on their ring fingers — just like Olivia’s idol, Beyoncé.
“I love Beyoncé and saw she and Jay-Z have matching ring finger tattoos. I thought it was such a cool idea,” she said.
Kyle designed each tattoo.
Olivia said: “I have a ‘K’ that is very dainty. Kyle has a bold ‘O.’
“We posed for the pictures on our wedding day and Kyle drew them on but we had to get it done properly the next day because there was just not enough time. It was the craziest day.”
The ink also has a practical purpose.
“Kyle can’t wear his ring a lot when tattooing as he wears gloves so it’s easier for him as well. It was very special.”
Olivia said that her parents, Cindy and Dale, both 60, loved the idea so much that they also got inked to celebrate their 36th anniversary.
Meanwhile, Olivia and Kyle also have a matching bee tattoos in honor of their parlor, the Hive Tattoo & Co.
They plan to continue getting matching ink as they travel together, including on an upcoming trip to Nashville, Tennessee.
Beyoncé also played an important role in another couple’s relationship recently as the pair seemingly got engaged during the singer’s London concert.
