The City of Ocala and Magnolia Art Xchange (MAX) are inviting the public to an opening exhibit reception for the “Spectrum of Creativity” Student and Emerging Artist Competition on Wednesday, April 21, 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, located at 110 SE Watula Ave.
Guests will experience the work of local student and emerging artists on display while enjoying live music by Prestine Allen. The patio at Citizens Circle will be open for reception guests to remain socially distanced. All guests must wear a face covering while inside buildings and adhere to a physical distance of six feet apart. Complimentary, individually packaged refreshments will be provided.
A video presentation of juror Marissa Hershon announcing this year’s placing artists in each division, along with Best of Show, will be shown during the reception. Awards will be presented at 6 p.m.
Prizes for this competition include more than $2,000 in awards, including scholarships to the College of Central Florida, a professional artwork scan (first place in each division and Best of Show), an annual membership to the Appleton Museum of Art and Marion Cultural Alliance, a MAX Affiliate Artist Membership and a registration fee waiver for the 2021-22 season of First Friday Art Walk (all winners).
