Back by popular demand, Zoo Atlanta is looking for artists to paint live with us for Art Gone Wild Paint-Out Week!

Important Dates:
- Applications accepted: Through April 8
- Selection announcement via email: By April 13
- Optional “Find Your Muse” Days:
- April 29 at 11 a.m. or 2 p.m.
- May 6 at 11 a.m.
- May 14 at 11 a.m. or 2 p.m.
- May 18 at 11 a.m.
- Mandatory Orientation: June 6 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Zoo Atlanta
- Paint-Out Week: June 6-10
- Clothesline Sale: June 7-10
- Pick up unsold work deadline: July 1
Paint-Out Week Monday, June 6 through Friday, June 10
- Artists apply and are selected to paint, draw and/or sculpt live outdoors or en plein air on Zoo grounds from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guests enjoy watching artists create their masterpieces free with their Zoo admission.
- Artists have the option to participate in the Clothesline Sale and/or Artist Contest.
Clothesline Sale Tuesday, June 7 through Friday, June 10
- Optional part of Paint-Out Week. Only Paint-Out Week artists may submit work.
- Sale occurs in Flamingo Plaza for guests to browse and make purchases.
- Each artist may submit up to five works to the Clothesline Sale each day and price their work at $15, $25, or $50. Sales are not guaranteed.
- Work may be sketches, drafts or quick studies of Zoo animals, botanicals, or environments on paper (recommended) or other medium and must measure no larger than a combined 20 inches. No 3-D pieces, please. Photography permitted. Works must have been completed while on Zoo grounds.
- Artists will receive 50% of the sales of their work. The other proceeds will support Zoo Atlanta’s continued superior animal care.
- Artists may pick up any unsold items by July 1, 2022, from Zoo Atlanta.
Artist Contest
- Optional part of Paint-Out Week.
- Artists can submit their best original work from Paint-Out Week to this contest. More details to come.
Selected Artists Must Commit To:
- Attend Orientation on June 6 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
- Paint on Zoo grounds at least three days for four hours each during Paint-Out Week (June 6-10).
- Professional behavior that is reflective of Zoo Atlanta’s mission and values.
Zoo Atlanta Will Provide:
- Scheduled opportunities to visit Zoo Atlanta before Paint-Out Week for artists to “find their muse.”
- Discounted booth fee at the Art Gone Wild Market ($75 off) to display and/or sell their work.
- Opportunity to sell at the Clothesline Sale and earn 50% of the sale of their work.
- Opportunity to participate in the Artist Contest and win a Rhino Wild Encounter for two.
- Hospitality room with light refreshments.
- A positive and supportive community that encourages creativity.
Please note:
- This event occurs outdoors in June, with an average daily temperature of 67° F to 87 °F.
- Zoo Atlanta is a family-friendly facility. Completed works and artist demeanor should also be family-friendly.
- Artists provide their own supplies.
- Artists who wish to also participate in the Art Gone Wild Market will need to apply to the market separately here [LINK to Market Pop Up].
- Other rules, regulations, and policies apply and will be reviewed with selected artists prior to Paint-Out Week.
