Even though creating beautiful installations like these are her business, these balloon buddies will serve a more altruistic purpose.
“I noticed that there are very few balloon artists in our area, and out of that no one is doing this program,” Monica Glosque, Poppin Party Creations, said.
It’s part of a nationwide program called ‘Sponsor a Grandparent.’
“It’s a random act of kindness to say we were thinking of you,” said Glosque, who’s working to get one buddy sponsored for each long term resident living at the Ten Broeck Nursing home.
Ten Broeck Activities Director Marisa Gorseline works with the residents and says when all the balloons are finally in will be a real mood booster for all the residents.
“They are bright and colorful and I think it will put a smile on everyone’s face to have that in their room,” Gorseline said.
Faces like Marietta Carpino, who says she enjoys the little things in life.
“I love to read and listen to music,” Carpino said.
And John Curci, who became a long-term resident himself after many visits with his wife who had Alzheimer’s.
“I think it’s very nice that they think of people like us, and I really enjoy getting things like that,” Curci said.
She’s hoping that support for this local program will blow-up.
“After we finished Ten Broeck we want to move to other facilities so we can spread the love and joy,” Glosque added.
