ANN ARBOR, MI -- People will have the opportunity to get a little artsy at the upcoming Westside Art Hop from Oct 21-22 in Ann Arbor.
The event which markets itself as “Ann Arbor’s quirkiest art fair,” will happen from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22. Art Hop is held twice a year in June and October.
The mix of an art walk and art fair will feature around 70 artists in homes and studios on the Old West Side, Eberwhite and Selma areas while other artists will sell items on porches, garages and yards.
Caitlin Boyce-Jensen is not only Westside Art Hop’s social media director, but also a participating artist. She is an illustrator and textile artist making items like printed textile jewelry.
The artist said she loved Westside Art Hop so much that she decided to jump at the opportunity to work for the group. This is Boyce-Jensen’s third time participating in Art Hop.
“It was my first real art fair which is another really cool thing about Art Hop because it’s such a wide breadth of artists, and we’re open to a lot of different skill levels,” she said.
There will be a variety of art to check out including jewelry, mosaics, photography, ceramics, sculptures, blown glass art, oil paintings and fiber arts.
Boyce-Jensen said the event keeps its offerings “fresh” despite hosting the event twice a year. She said attendees can expect a range of different art, especially since artists reapply for each Art Hop.
“I’m just excited (to see) the level of skill and talent that is in my community and being able to work with Art Hop kind of opened that up for me,” she said.
