INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Fever fans have been excited about the possibility of college basketball star Caitlin Clark coming to Indianapolis since the day she announced that she is entering the WNBA draft.

A mural of the Iowa Hawkeyes player went up on the city's west side ahead of the draft in April.

The mural is on the back of a building located at 1825 W. 18th St., near East Riverside Drive. The artist, Kwazar Martin, said a family member runs a trucking business out of the building and lets him use the outside of it for his art.

The mural of Clark is among other portraits of people who inspire Martin. Clark’s mural is next to a mural of Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton.

"Soon as she announced she would be entering the draft, I'm like, 'Well, we probably got her,'" Martin said.

Martin started working on the mural a few days later. He said it took him about 26 hours to finish it over the span of five days.

Sometimes, Martin worked in very cold temperatures, but painting is what helps him keep his focus, he said.

"The art kind of silences the noise. When I'm at the wall, that's my place of peace and thinking ... I love it," Martin said.

Now, an area less traveled is picking up traffic.

"You see a lot of people with cameras now,” Martin said. “Just riding through recording."
